Overview

The Skaidi I in Saariselkä is located near the highest point of Laanipalo at Jäkälätie 14. It was built in 2010. In October 2023, a thorough renovation was completed. The cottage is insulated with ecological and breathable eco wool.

The cottage is spacious, cozy and well equipped. Both downstairs bedrooms have twin beds. The cottage has a spacious and high mezzanine, which is accessible via a staircase. At the other end of the mezzanine there are two beds, and the other end is a living space with a tv.

The living space boasts a high ceiling, which has large, high windows overlooking the forest. The cottage has two toilets, one of these in the shower room. The cottage's south facing back terrace overlooks untouched forest. The cottage has a car shed and storage space. In the storage space there are ski waxing equipment and a table.

The cottage has good connections to the ski track and snowmobile track. The lit ski track between Laanila and Saariselkä is 400m, and the lit outdoor path 100m from the cottage. The snowmobile track runs 300m from the cottage. Saariselkä center is about 2km away. The distance to the airport is about 25km, and 32km to the center of Ivalo.

We maintain and clean the cottages mainly ourselves. Doing this we ensure that our guests are always welcomed into a clean and tidy cottage.

Pets are strictly forbidden. The word Skáidi in Northern Sami and means a stretch of land between two parts of a river.

Facilities

The cottage has a fireplace, electric sauna, and an automatic air ventilation system.

The kitchen is well equipped, and includes tableware for at least six guests. The kitchen has a large fridge and integrated freezer, induction stove top, dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, water kettle, toaster, electric mixer, and waffle iron.

Other amenities include WiFi, two televisions (one with Maxivision-channels), wahsing machine, an iron and ironing board, and blow dryer. For the drying of clothes there is a drying battery and blow dryer for shoes. For winter, the cottage has a kick-sledge and sledges.

The rental price includes final cleaning, firewood, toilet paper, kitchen roll, baking paper, aluminum foil, cling film, seat covers for the sauna, hand soap, dish washing liquid, and washing detergent. Bed linen and towels are at an additional price of 14 €/person.

The advance payment of 25% of the rental price is due one week after the reservation, and the final payment is due six weeks before arrival at the destination.

When booking, the cabin's booking terms will be sent to the person making the reservation. Once the final payment has been made in full, the renter will receive the cabin instructions, which include details such as how to collect the keys.
